How to convert VCD DAT files to xivd or other formats.

For those interested in backing up your VCDs into xivd or something similar but keeps getting a out of sync audio track video file, you have come to the right place. After numerous trying and testing, i finally found the root cause of the problem. The issue arises when a DAT file copied directly from the VCDs are used directly for conversion. The end result is a out of sync output file. Whatever video container(example: mkv, xvid etc) that you choose to convert to will not resolve the out of sync output file. But if the DAT file is stripped of its “VCD” component, you will be able to get the correct mpeg-1(VCD) file that will convert correctly. Here’s how you can do it.   Download VCDGear from here or here (download password is : bartman88.blogspot.com).   Next, unzip the zip file into a folder of your choice and start “vcdgear.exe”. Marina Bay Sands Lights and Water Show 2011 Feb

Marina Bay Sands put up a Lights and Water show and i managed to catch one of the shows. Luckily the weather was okay and show was great. Its a little like the show at Sentosa using lights and water. Here’s a few shots a managed to capture. Finally! My very own 50mm f1.8 Lens.

Finally went down to and got my very own 50mm f1.8mm lens. The shallow depth of field is fantastic when wide opened. But i realized sometimes it might be too shallow for certain type of shots. VivoCity – Sentosa Broadwalk 2011 Feb

Went down to check out the newly opened Sentosa Broadwalk and also to bring out my 70-300mm Tele for a little shooting exercise. Unfortunately, the weather that day was not very cooperative. Anyway, here’s what i got.
