How to convert VRO to MPG

A colleague of mine is kind enough to help me record a TV program with his DVD recorder a few days ago. The recorded file format used by the DVD recorder is not a standard mpeg2 video file, but a VRO video file. I also wanted to convert the VRO file to xivd, but the video converter program that i typically use could not correctly handle the VRO file. The converted video file has a noticeable audio sync problem. So i thought why not convert it to mpeg2 and then convert it to xvid. I searched around on the web and i managed to find what i was looking for.

Using this program called VCDGear, i was able to quickly convert the VRO file to MPEG2 file. You can download this program from this link.

All you have to do is download the zip file, unzip the files into a directory of your choice and just run the "vcdgear.exe" file. No installation is required.

Once you have started up the program, in the "Extraction/Conversion" selection, choose "mpeg -> mpeg". Next click on "load" to browse to your VRO file. Next, enter a filename to save to. Finally, click on "start" to get things going.
There you have it, a quick and easy way to convert VRO to MPG.
This is a screen shot of what you should configure to get things going.

You can download the program from here.
Have Fun!
